Gen Con opens badge registration two weeks prior to the attendee housing registration start date. Prior to housing registration opening, Gen Con randomizes accounts having at least one attendee badge (4-Day or 1-Day) to form a housing queue to pace visitor traffic to the housing portal on opening day and minimize potential for server overload.
After formulating the queue, Gen Con populates inactive Request Room buttons in badge holder accounts and displays the randomized access time that all buttons will activate. Attendees should begin seeing inactive buttons populate approximately 24-hours prior to the housing start time.
Housing access is randomized to ensure fairness:
- Applies to attendee badge types (4-Day and 1-Day) purchased prior to attendee housing registration start date
- An access count-down timer is displayed on the My Housing page of your Gen Con account
- At your appointed time, the Request Room button(s) will activate for use
⚠ Tip: Have your hotel preferences, guest information, and valid credit card ready in advance. Inventory will sell out quickly.
